Pathé Palace Paris, France 2024
Paris aims to become the European cinema capital through a bold project led by “Les Cinéma Pathé!” The plan involves renovating the historic Gaumont Opera complex, built in 1929, and creating a new 7-screen cinema and office space for Pathé’s headquarters. The design emphasizes heritage preservation, transparency, urban integration, and environmental sustainability.
Key features include restoring the original facade, adding a glazed atrium called “La Piazza,” and incorporating natural light through innovative glazing and birch tree plantings. The lower levels will house cinemas, while the upper floors will feature Pathé offices. The iconic Art Deco rotunda by architect Auguste Bluysen will be meticulously restored, blending old and new architectural elements. Located near the Garnier Opera house, this project aspires to make Paris a must-visit destination for cinema enthusiasts and professionals.
